The science

It's not you. It's the method.

Memorising grammar & vocab
Understanding real content

You absorb a language by understanding content just past your level — not by drilling rules. It's called comprehensible input (Dr. Stephen Krashen, USC), the most-cited idea in language learning, and how you learned your first one.

less study time for the same results
40 yrsof peer-reviewed research behind it
#1most-cited theory in language acquisition

In one study, 70 hours of comprehensible input matched 286 hours of classroom study (Mason & Ae, 2023).

The founder

Why I'm building Soritok

I learned Hangul, did the Duolingo streak, bought the textbooks — and still couldn't follow one scene without subtitles. So I stopped studying and just watched the shows and groups I already loved. That's when it finally clicked — I was learning the Korean people actually speak, not textbook lines.

"Me vs. my Korean textbook. It won."

"Now: dramas with friends, subtitles off."

"Two years of Duolingo and I still froze on every drama. Every app teaches phrases you'd never actually say. I've been waiting for someone to do it like this."

"Wasn't sure just watching clips would actually teach me anything. But a few weeks in and I'm catching words in songs I've heard a hundred times. No clue how it's sticking, but it is."

Priyastan since 2019 · 19

"An app that teaches Korean through the shows I'm already obsessed with is exactly what I've wanted for years. The second this launches, take my money."

Do I need to know any Korean already?

No. You start with a quick Hangul course, so you can read from day one — then the feed grows with you.

Is it the Korean people actually speak?

Yes — real lines from dramas, music, and variety, not textbook phrases you'll never use. You pick up slang, tone, and how natural Korean really sounds.

I've quit every other app. Why is this different?

You're not drilling grammar or chasing a streak. You watch content you already love, just above your level — the one approach research says actually sticks.

Is the app live yet?

Not yet — we're building it now. Founding members get first access at launch and the lowest price we'll ever offer.

Why pay now?

It locks your price for life and tells us this is worth building. If we don't ship, you're refunded in full.
